The Creepy, Insane, Ridiculous Endings of WWF: WrestleMania the Arcade Game – Whang!
Shawn Michaels is violated in the middle of the ring on TV in front of thousands people, leading to a career in politics. Yokozuna crushes the United States’ morale and economy by winning the championship. Doink and Bam Bam Bigelow literally murder fans in attendance. And then Razor Ramon suffers the darkest fate of all. All in PG-era, 90s WWE game primarily aimed at children. Could you imagine having subject matter that comes anywhere close to that nowadays? Vince McMahon would lose it. Although with WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump in office, maybe Vince can afford to loosen up a bit.
Perhaps it should be no surprise that WrestleMania the Arcade Game includes so many risque, violent endings as it was developed by Midway, who was freshly coming off of their success with Mortal Kombat. WrestleMania the Arcade Game was made with the same graphical style, having the wrestlers come in and perform their actual moves for the game. Although WrestleMania the Arcade Game included no fatalities, perhaps Midway decided to compensate with tales of death at the end of the game.

As a kid, it was one of my favorite super Nintendo games I ever owned! Around 1988 was my favorite time for the WWF! A lot of Hall of Famer’s at that time looking back now. And wrestling was not “fake“, it was not “sports entertainment“… The secret was still in house! Lol. Our dad had to tell us the truth, and we had to argue back!

He must have talked to Vince about this for years, so I'm assuming that's why he got the ending he did…

Shawn Michaels actually did get jumped really bad after a show where I live, Syracuse, NY. I'm pretty sure it was him, it could have been another wrestler. Late 80s early 90s I think, it was a long time ago. You can see them leave from the parking garage across the street from the show at The War Memorial.

A game where you win, but the only option is the bad ending that makes you feel like you fuckin lost in round 1. And yeah, definitely had a feeling this shit was MK inspired with Yoko and Bambam… dudes a flintstones character not a wizard.

We knew it was a bad attempt at edginess In a decade defined by trying to be edgy. Offensive? Not a chance. Lame as hell? I'll go there.
