A list of (nearly) all MAME-playable arcade games that were released in 1992.

Mahjong/gambling games have been omitted from this list.

Apparently, 1992 was the year of the quiz game – as there were over a dozen such games released this year. 1992 also saw the first entry in the Mortal Kombat series, which is still going strong today.

  1. my dad used to work (and own ) a donkin donuts and we had a prince of persia aracde game in the corner by the softee cakes and ice cream ,,

  2. Back when Konami actually made games. They made some good use of their licenses of other IPs, just like Capcom did with their Disney and Marvel licenses. The attention to detail really shines through in Asterix, Bucky O'Hare, Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa and X-Men (as well as the previous year's Simpsons arcade game, even if its story makes very little sense partly due to the show's own limited cast at the time), especially Asterix with its faithful recreation of the slapstick seen in the comics. It was also around this time that Namco were stepping up their 'arcade music' game, with such catchy soundtracks from the likes of Legend of Valkyrie, Burning Force, Rolling Thunder 2, Steel Gunner 1 & 2 and Cosmo Gang The Video in previous years, Cosmo Gang The Puzzle and Exvania in 1992, and Emeraldia, Tinkle Pit, Tekken, Point Blank, the Namco Classic Collections, the Soul series et al. in later years.

  3. Thanks for the interesting Steamkey, Gary — it's GLOOM, 2D black-and-white, very atmospheric rogue-like with tough combat. Will be a challenge!

Just like the 1991 video, I just feel like I want to play every game in this video (with the exception of racing games, which would improve substantially in the mid 90s). Shmups are at their best in the early 90s, so I'd love to play all of these shmups for hours. Also, scrolling beat-em-ups/run-n-guns don't get much better than some of these '92 games. And we've got SFII era fighters, great to play with friends. I also wish I had played more of the 1st-person view rail shooters which just seem really cool both in visuals and gameplay. It looks like '92 was when soccer and baseball games started to get more fun in the arcade.

So much to watch — I'll come back many times to this video. Cheers, Gary!

  4. I need to pull the trigger on a Pandora’s Box

  5. Oh my God, sooo many wonderful games in only one year

  6. I loved Asterix as a kid and am still surprised how well it held up. Arcades where only 18+ in Germany, so the only fix as a kid was holidays in Italy.

  7. I still don’t get why the chick in revenge of death adder loses her horse body when she gets on the creatures you can ride

  8. I expect more fighting games next Part due to Street Fighter II boom.

  9. Good work. I got 8 of these (9 If I ever get King of the Monsters 2) on various consoles(Mostly Genesis) and around 25 or so of these I'd like to try. Keep up the good work. These vids show me thing I'd have no way of knowing otherwise.

  10. list game work to mame MAME 0.139u1 ????

  11. Excellent work on this! I hope iircade is watching!!!!!!!!

  12. "Let's see…….I'm at my favorite arcade with 5 dollars in quarters. I could play Mortal Kombat but, nah, I'll play this quiz game instead. Dur hur!!"
