This week’s patreon Steamkey is one of the best: it’s MEGA MAN LEGACY COLLECTION First six Mega Man games on Steam, jeez thanks Gary!
So much to say about this video — some notes:
– Thanks for all the different genres, including off-the-beaten-path games — fun! I'm going to use your videos as a starting-point for my own genre-by-genre arcade research, something I love doing with retro games. btw, I don’t know if other viewers are like this, but it takes me about two hours to watch this kind of video for the first time on your channel … sends me down so many windy garden paths.
– First-person-view driving games are starting to look pretty good in 1991! This would become one of my favorite game genres later in the 90s. On the other hand, I always have had trouble with the overhead-view driving games which dominated 3rd and 4th gen consoles … it's like my mind can't process how to turn quickly in those games.
– Marge kicks so much a$$ (17:20)
– I miss 90’s light gun games.
– Capcom side-scrolling beat-em-ups look fantastic, not necessarily more fun but definitely smoother and better-looking than their competitors. KING OF DRAGONS & KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND have long been two of my favorites!
– Damn I hope I can play SOLVALOU some day. It’s a first-person game in the Xevious series of course, and that music is the exact music of the original Xevious — probably the game I played the most back in the arcade in the early 80s. So cool to get in the ship in this Solvalou game, even though the 3D flight is very early and rudimentary.
– So many cool shmups, I just can't —
– I recognize ROHGA ARMOR FORCE as the outside-of-Japan name for WOLF FANG: KUUGA 2001. That game had nice ports on PS1 and Saturn, and I play it on PS3! MonkeyPaw released it on PSN in the west, sometime around 2013-2014. You can still purchase and download it today, if you can figure out how to navigate the relentlessly ossifying PS3 and Vita stores.
– Another of those shmups pushed me to make a purchase today: RAIGA: STRATO FIGHTER from Tecmo is right up my alley aesthetically (and that soundtrack!). So I found out that the game was included in a 2005 release for Xbox, "Tecmo Classic Arcade", which somehow I had never picked up. Still pretty cheap (under $30 new) and it has 11 games including a few greats: Pleiads (1981), Swimmer (1982), Star Force (1984), Rygar (1986), and this Raiga: Strato Fighter game (1991) which I've never played before. (Strangely, no Ninja Gaiden or DOA games…) Several of these have been or will soon be released by Hamster in the Arcade Archives series, so I'm sure they'll hit Raiga soon, but I can't wait LOL, and anyway this disc fits right in with my og Xbox collection. I'll be playing it on the big screen with sound system in a few weeks — my 1991 arcade at home!
Gary.
The new video of gary : Me 😍😎😻💋💖 yeahhh
9:32 Godzilla vs Kong
TY Gary
Getting into the really good stuff now. Still lots of shmups, though. I'm surprised how many games had true polygonal 3D this early.
What is it about these videos that's so oddly enjoyable? It's just lists of arcade games, yet there's something unquantifiably entertaining about them.
Spectacular list as always, Gary:) Keep up the good work:) Sadly can't say so for my channel though as I'm not feeling up to it lately:(
Berlin wall….what the hell lol
Golden era of arcade
A lot of legendary beatemups
Ninja Clowns. Pretty cool game!
Good list. I played 12 of these (mostly on home versions but I did play The Simpsons at a Go Kart place once) and I was aware of 22 of these. Btw: Ninja Clown?! That sounds like a parody like Bat Chick or Man Boy in the Comic Book Shop of The Simpsons!!
Nice video just supported you
Nice. Subbed. Can’t wait for 92.
Had been looking to play this game for years in HD pixelated Glory and finally have it on the PS classic🤘🤘 edit: Warrior Blade Raston Saga lll
12:14 How the hell did I go through life not knowing there's a game called Ninja Clowns?!?!
I was 7 years old, Terminator 2 came out that year, I had tons of Ninja Turtle toys, and I enjoyed so many classics in this video! 1991 was a great year!
